Some users have confirmed 128GB to be working with Gateway. The only limit is SD card supplies and/or your budget I guess.

Even though there's no limit, I would suggest buying a 64gb microSD as 128gb is way overpriced and you can fit 100% of quality games in a 64gb card anyways.

Slightly OT but for the big sd card int the 3ds itself - can it be larger than 32gb?

Some people have said they've had success with 64GB or higher after reformatting the SDXC exFAT cards to FAT32, but this isn't officially supported by Nintendo.

Okay, thanks for answering my question, I'll probably just stick to a 32gb.

I use a 64GB card in mine. No problems, although after ripping all my games I don't have much headroom left either...

To be honest, I don't see much point in having one larger than 32GB's or maybe 64 if you really need to carry around everything w/ you.

3DS ROM's >1GB are pretty few in number and I doubt anyone is going to put garbage like Imagine games on their SD's even if they have the room. And do you really need 10 "epic" games w/ you at one time or every game from a series (e.g. all 3 Harvest Moons or all the Lego games)?

I, at least, had a hard time filling a 32GB SD w/ shit I would actually play.
