could someone tell me what to use to be able to edit
i18n_us_en/msg_kernel

It's a type-0x50 compressed file, you can decompress it using dedicated decompressor search for "MarioTennisAces0x50Decompressor"
You also need AutoItv3 software and scripts, PM me for details.
Execute "export.au3" and select "msg_kernel.dat".
Translate the file in a notepad, and import it back using "import.au3".

How do I unzip the .date file? I used MarioTennisAces0x50Decompressor.exe but nothing happened. Do I need any extra programs?

decompress msg_kernel.dat msg_kernelNEW.dat

no, you need to run this exe from your command line, if you're not fimiliar with this, you can create a bat file in a folder with both files (decompress.exe and msg_kernel.dat), create a text file like this:

decompress.exe msg_kernel.dat msg_kernelNEW.dat

and save it as mario.bat, then run it.

After this you will need to launch au3 scripts, but you will have to PM for details, as I can't post files here.
