No Minigames ever turn

bad nintendo bad

WHAT!?!? What the... The minigames is what made Mario Party fun in the past.

I meant no minigames every turn. Instead of having a minigame happen after every person goes, they have minigame spaces that you land on to initiate minigames.

I like the way the minigames are all mixed up. The mini games are better fun than the last one. I like the captain thing and the solo bit is good. I like it the way you have to stick together. The game looks lots better than old.

Hates:
Mini games are harder so dad always wins, boooooo!. I don't read mini instructions and loose. Dad annoys me.

Un-releated:
Xbox arcade game is taking forever to download. Waaaaa!

There you have it. That's about all I can get out of him.

The Bowser squares at the end can get a bit ridiculous and turn the game on its head.

Edit: This really pisses off Junior even when I have tried to let him win.

Edit2: I tried to explain that he was the one who turned the bloody squares on. He wasn't having it.

I'll +1 this VERY much!!!

I mean, c'mon. I just tried a round of singleplayer. Won every single minigame and pretty much defeated the 2 minibosses singlehandedly. But then the Bowser squares kick in. Give 10 stars to last player. Give another 10 stars to the last player. Lose dices.
Then another guy gets on it. Loses 10 stars and...wait...still last place? Let's GIVE him 10 stars instead! (yeah...so much for being a badass bad ass, Bowser  ).

Still managed to get a lead at the end of the first round (thanx to pounding the miniboss), so it's time to show off the best player, right? Wrong. First there are some pretty high rewards for totally random things like "lowest dice roll total". Result: instead of winning, I ended up far on the bottom.

I'm normally not a bad loser, but this is just sad. You can just as well throw a dice at the start and declare a winner on the result of that.

Oh, and why the freakin' hell is the interface set up to cater for pointing? The board doesn't use it and all the minigames I've played this far use it sideways. Result: at least two dozens of totally useless "now switch your wiimote around" messages. And the "now point at the screen" message can't be clicked away (it just hovers there until even the slowest person on earth manages to ssssslllloooooowwwwwlllllyyyyy tttttuuuuurrrrrnnnn ttttthhhheeeeee wwwwiiiiimmmmoooottttteeeee aaaarrrrrroooouuuunnnnndddddd).

The minigames themselves are pretty fun, but yeeez...if it wasn't for that, I'd say just stick with wii party.

This. Mario Party 2's mini-game star, coin star, and happening star were perfect.

The minigames were decent, but I hope they introduce a separate "car mode" in the next Mario Party. It's not as fun as the old classic "run-around-and-get-the-star" concept. Mario Party 2 was near-perfect and the best Mario Party game IMO.

me and a friend went through all the minigames in under an hour. we only felt a few were worth replaying loads, the majority of them are just completly random and you may aswell be hitting the dice instead of playing them!

what we decided would be awesome is if they included every mario party mini game from the old games that would work with wii controls, and instead of having an hours worth of new mini games they could have shed loads!

We feel as if you can play with all the care in the world while someone else just shakes the controller from the kitchen and it doesn't matter a squat until the last couple of turns.

ha, there was one mini game where you have to rotate gems and match them up to win. my friend was trying to do it seriously and i kicked his ass just spamming every gem as fast as possible in no particular order!

My opinion so far: the game is more about luck than anything else. There are a lot of minigames you can't really 'do' anything. You just have to choose the right position or something like that. There's little use of the motion controller, I only did one wood chopping game where you needed to swing your remote. Throwing the dice is more of a luck thing than before. In MP8 you could hit de dice by jumping (swing remote up) and timing it seemed to work with that. Now it's just pressing A. I also don't like that you don't get a minigame at the end of a round. It's very boring when you only throw ones and never step on any event-space. You have to wait until some other player gets a minigame in which you can play along.
There's no more excitement in going around the board. You don't have to be faster than another player. The only reason why you want to throw any specific number is to avoid or try to get to certain spaces. And since I already concluded this is a luck-thing, going around the board is also a luck-thing. It's more like the Dutch game 'ganzenbord' (game of goose?) than my favorite Nintendo game of Mario Party. I am really disappointed in it and will probably be playing MP8 again instead of this one.
And as already mentioned, the bowser spaces and bonussus are no fun. You can win every minigame and then there is a bowser space and you lose the stars you worked for. And then there is a bonus for some stupid thing like losing the most minigames or something and suddenly the player in 4th place wins. No, I don't like it. But don't let me keep you from trying for yourself.

I like MP9. It's a big improvement over MP8 which was extremely slow. With MP9, you can have quicker games.

Have you played any of the earlier MPs such as 1-7?

The format is ok it just needs to be way less random,
