So we played a bit of single player grand prix to get some unlockables cooking. So far, beating Star Cup on 50cc gets King Boo. Any others? (Unlocking boo shows 5(?) more character slots)

Did you unlock Boo as well?

I think we may be dealing with random character unlocks.

Unlocked baby mario kart after finishing 50cc mushroom cup - but it didn't appear until I'd reset the wii and booted the game again, then as I selected the profile it popped up as unlocked. Hope someone can make a list of all the unlockables and how to get them.

unlocked Daisy from getting gold on every Normal cups (not retro) on 150cc.
Played Yoshi, A friend played Peach and both unlocked Daisy so i guess every character works

heres what i did to unlock diddy. i ultimately played all the 50 cc cups. i did lightning cup last and thats how i got diddy.
so i don't know for sure if its lightning cup, or all the cups, but i finally got him.

I got king boo after beating 3 cups if i remember right and some random kart after beating that last one of the upper cups. (50cc)

I got King Boo after getting gold on the first 3 Normal cups. Initially got gold on the first 2 and silver on the last 2, then redid 3rd with Luigi and unlocked Boo! Still got to get Gold on the last Normal cup.

Boost when recovering from a fall

When you fall into something, such as water or falling from rainbow road, when you land, if you hit 2 at the moment you hit the ground, you get a temporary boost.

Quick Start

When the countdown starts wait till the 2 starts to disappear and then press and hold the 2 button. So the 2 must still be visible but disappearing.
This will give you a boost at the start of the race.

When the countdown starts wait till the 2 starts to disappear and then press and hold the 2 button. So the 2 must still be visible but disappearing.
This will give you a boost at the start of the race.

There are also different speeds to the quick start too. The nearer to the two second countdown that you start holding the 2 button down, the better start boost you will get. You can prove this by just trying to beat the first Nintendo ghost on Luigi Circuit. Once you've beat the standard ghost by about 5 seconds you unlock the Expert Ghost and he really shifts off the start line, virtually boosting to the first corner.

This makes sense as if you start pressing the 2 button when the counddown timer reaches two and hold it in, you will spin out before the race starts. So it rewards the player more if he can start the boost as nearer to the two countdown as possible.

F-Zero is a Nintendo franchise too, Megaman is capcom..

Has anyone else noticed if your timing is good that you can avoid the POW by pulling up on the wiimote as if to perform a trick?
