Hacking Mario Kart Wii

Mario Kart freezes and black screen after controller safety screen when loading the start of the game.


ive scanned these forums and several others but i havent found a solution to my problem.

Backed up a genuine dvd of mario kart onto usb hdd to use with usbloader gx.
I am running 3.2 PAL system.
CIOS38 v 10

Has anyone overcome this problem? Seems like its been common for people downloading this game from the net but not so common with genuine copys.

I was never asked to upgrade any system files when loading the game for the first time.

My system was 3.2 when new and have put HBC via bannerbomb. nothing else really has changed.


The only thing I havent tried is instaled CIOS51 but there's only an internet install for this. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks

What region is your Mario Kart?

PAL. system is 3.4E - sorry i put 3.2 above.

Since it's from Australia, it should say PAL on the cover. Does the game work fine from the disk?

Maybe changing to cios rev9. Mine was giving the same problem as you, but i was on rev13. Changed back to rev9 and it works great now.

i borrowed the disc.. and to be honest i never tried playing it with the disc.

i loaded the game as a test from the usb drive and it booted fine the FIRST time only.. i sadly dont have the disc anymore

Will try this first thing in the morning.. fingers crossed. I had troubles with rev13 with usbloader gx freezing too which is why im with rev10.

I used the rev10 for a while, but i was getting some freezing trouble in games like DOnkey Kong and Wario Shake it. So i changed back to rev9

I use rev12 and have no problems playing the game.

I do however have one little problem, it doesnt creat the channel. I tried to creat the channel from backup disk and usb loader, but both no luck. Any one else have the same problem?

Tested with rev 9.. still freezes.
Any more suggestions?

I am going to get the original copy back tomorrow and try reinstalling again and then threw the PC.

So frustrating!

I had the exact same problem, with the exact same game.. it ended up being my hard drive. if possible, try from another one, or an sd card if you have one big enough.

Funnily enough I had exactly the same problem with exactly the same game but unlike Troy it ended up being a bad rip of the original disc! I "obtained" another copy elsewhere from ahem the net and then it worked fine.
