Gaming Mario Kart Wierd stuff..

I really wish that Wi-Fi cheats wouldn't be released. I know, I know, people would probably somehow find them anyway. But this way, at least not EVERYONE would have 'em.

For some reason, often times, other players seem to be gliding by in the rainbow road circuit. As in GLIDE.

Weird, let's see. Ok, I once raised against this dude who just stayed behind and waited for everybody to round back then hit all of us while he has the star. He didn't bother finishing a lap, he just wanted to torment us 3.

When I just had Mario Kart, I played one race online.
The guy was SUPERfast and so much faster than me.

I thought it was because you could unlock faster cars on the single player mode, but nope.. He cheated.

It sucks. A lot.

I never played online again...

Yeah, Mario Kart and Metroid are the games that are most hacked by cheaters, not to mention Pokemon, but that's via FC.

Now, I've once seen a guy that finished 3 laps in 2 seconds. I immediately disconnected, as did my other opponents.

And the game didn't award me 3 losses because I just moved out of my router's range and it considered it a server disconnect instead of a client one.

I'll have to consider that from now on when I see shenanigans in any of them.

I gave up MKDS probably 2mo after it came out as that's when all those cheats and hacks dropped, plus when everyone wanted to ruin the spirit of the game with the snaking. I'm (was then) one who could or could not and would keep it out of the race if at all possible. But when people got a few sec lap, driving full speeds over tough course that dogs, etc listed here I bailed. Between that and the overkill screwed up cheap AI at 150cc I just shelved it and maybe used it once or twice since a good year ago almost now.

Actually, 2 months after the game came out, 'hacks' were very rare.. Action replays didnt exist back then, (which everyone uses these days to hack) so the only way you could 'hack' was through the ROM on flashcards.. which not many people did, because it was hard and the majority dont even have flashcards.

Most the time lag makes it just look like people are hacking.

Thats ridiculas anyway, not "everyone" snaked back then.. and they still dont.
people use the term so much its lost all meaning.. its just another advanced leval of gameplay. Its not a sin

^Kat I guessed at the time, probably was a bit longer as I had it in the system for a good while as there wasn't much else for a time worth getting. Yes i know there was lag that made people look like they teleported, but the stuff I'm referring to are the crap people are complaining about in here too.

yuyuyup... semantics really, and let's not derail the topic k? And kat... advanced gaming? riiiiiight.

It back then wasn't terribly too hard to avoid various cheating scumbags though as it seemed at that time rivals mode filtered out a lot of the losers. But as I said, haven't done it in a long time so I have no idea if that's ruined too now.

I looked it up

Cheap:
Achieved with little effort: a cheap victory; cheap laughs.

Only a handful of people in the world have successfully pulled off that first short cut, it takes alot of pationce. Not exactly little effort involved

The second short cut though, yeah thats easy so you might consider it cheap. but when your not racing other people, its not really cheap because your only racing yourself. The aim of time trials is to get the lowest time possible, so naturally your going to do everything you can to get the fastest time, if it involves somthing cheap or not.

But at http://www.mariokart64.com/mkds/ there are two leaderboards, one for non-short cut, non-PRB and another leaderboard for short cuts and PRB

So if your not into "cheap" racing theres still a leaderboard for you.
