Hacking Mario Kart Trying to update

Sorry if this has been asked before, tried searching all through forums and on google and found no answers. But here's me issue.

I just recently softmodded my wii(Haven't installed backup channel yet, but backups work from launcher). I have an original copy of mario kart and when I try to play, the disc channel says I need to update. I am running 3.2U which I just recently downgraded to. I am assuming there is something I need to use to update certain IOS files in order to do it but I don't know what that would be. Any help would be much appreciated.

Also, I am assuming updating via the disc channel is going to either brick my wii, or remove my HBC. Am I correct in this assumption?
