Hacking Mario Kart 8 - Character Hacking?

Is character hacking in Mario Kart 8 possible now, or should I just sell my copy, since Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is now a thing (and my game is worthless).

I say this because Nintendo has given up on the Wii U, and we now have free reign over the system.

I think he means Custom Characters.

You can Vertex a custom character but you can't import them yet, although there are people working on BFRES importing so eventually it will happen.
