No idea, I've not used the code. What I would recommend is making a save state right before you get experience, note down how much you get, then reload and try values with the code. Start with 01 and 02. See how much of a difference it makes and work your way up to the number you're aiming for. You can use Windows calculator to convert between decimal and hexidecimal too if it's something you're not used to, since the value in the code needs to be hex (0 to FF).
