Do you not use anything region free?

if you have EVER loaded an import backup, or original, with a loader, geckoOS, etc. it was only made possible by nuke.

eh, the only app i use that he was directly involved in is the homebrewchannel.

all my other apps were released by Waninkoko, who actually seems like a decently nice guy to me. His "argument" back at marcan the other day on his site wasn't even much of an argument, no mud slinging really at all, he just simply stood up for himself. hell, he even said marcan was talented in it (i forget the exact wording he used).

This "Marcan", from what I have read that he wrote on his blog, seems VERY insultive and bitter. Not exactly someone I'd wanna talk to.


anyway, I assume Team Twiizers is still together, with or without marcan, so Bootmii might still become a reality.

How would have your precious Wiis got softmodded without the Twilight Hack letting homebrew appear in the first place?

4.0 is currently without a serious exploit, and marcan leaving the scene only makes the appearance of one more improbable. Waninkoko is a good coder, but marcan is more than just a coder. He is also an hardware hacker, and there are so few of them that you won't find another so easily.

When you'll get a new Wii for a friend, a relative or someone else... and you'll get 4.0 on it, who will exploit it?

Who will release BootMii now? Yeah, you can have your Preloader all you want, but BootMii was on a totally different level. Yeah, there's still bushing, but who knows if he'll still release it without marcan.

EDIT: Also brakken is criticizing marcan so much for his "God" complex... when brakken himself feels like somebody important or even better than marcan. brakken did just create a news site, he's not even a CODER. He shouldn't really talk like that.

Agreed. He has been an integral part of the scene. Along with many others. People may not agree with his views, but cannot deny his importance. He helped provide the backbone for many apps and exploits.

he created the whole gecko stuff. usb gecko for example. a tool which is used for debugging homebrew. without that tool most homebrew would be buggy as hell. without his work the homebrew scene on wii wouldn't be at the point it is now. f you don't know what you are talking about please keep it.

Gamma, and indeed the 0.1beta that leaked uses ALOT of GeckoOS code.

Just one comes to my mind for now. The GameCube hardware DVD-emulator.
I remember other cases, but can't really point my finger on them right now. Oh well, you just have to search in the news archive.
