Background and Question
I've been trying to get controllers working in the vWii so that I can play Mario Kart mods with friends locally on the console.

From my research, the way to add controller support on the vWii is to use a VC inject or something like USBLoaderGX. Unfortunately, Mario Kart Wii mods (Riivolution, CTGP, Retro Rewind, etc.) all require a retail disc so injection doesn't seem to be an option.

I'm trying to get 4 functional controllers using what I've got but I can't get past one for disc based Wii games! (Wiimote + Nunchuck is the only working combination, albeit I can get more working in WiiU / Nintendont) Ideally I'd like to avoid buying more controllers but will consider it if I have to.

I'm okay with making changes that mean that online play isn't possible but would consider this as a "last resort".

Of my controllers below, is there anything else that I can do in software to get them to work with the Mario Kart Wii mods? Is there any cheap hardware that I could buy that would help?

My available controllers
- 1x WiiU Pro Controller. Works in WiiU and Nintendont but not for disc based Wii games.
- 1x Wiimote + Nunchuck. Works but it's not great to use... I could probably get one more Wiimote from a friend if needed.
- 1x WiiU Gamepad. Works in WiiU only.
- 2x Dualshock 4s. Works wirelessly in WiiU (Bloopair). Can use a single one in Nintendont if plugged in. It seems like I could get one working over USB if I get fakemote working but this would mean that I can't use the Gamecube controller adapter (if I ever get that working / buy a new one!)
- 1x Gamecube controller plus a 3rd party USB WiiU adapter (not sure what model it is, I bought it years ago and the sticker doesn't provide much info). Seems to work in Smash Bros WiiU only. Haven't tested it in Nintendont. Doesn't work with CTGP / Retro Revolution, probably because it's a 3rd party one.
- 2x Xbox Series controllers. Doesn't work wired or wirelessly in anything.

Currently installed mods
- WiiU Mods + Homebrew: Aroma, Bloopair, Enhanced vWii Aroma Plugin. Modded as per wiiu dot hacks guide.
- vWii Mods: Modded with Compat Title Installer, d2x cIOS as per the instructions in wii dot hacks guide, patched IOS 80 installer as per the same guide.
- vWii Homebrew: Riivolution, Nintendont, USBLoaderGX, CTGP-R, MK Retro Rewind. Also have YAWM ModMii to install WADs for forwarders and have also installed the forwarders for the WiiU page too.
- Mods not installed: Priiloader - there's a lot of chat about this causing bricking issues with certain other mods and causing graphical issues in things like USBLoaderGX. I've not installed it to avoid accidentally breaking something. However, if it can be used to make things work then I'm willing to give it a go!
- Physical Wii Games: Mario Kart Wii (PAL, Retail Disc).

Thanks in advance!

Hello!
You can play any discs you own via Wii VC Injects with some being compatible with the gamepad. The games require classic controller support. A thread with many hacks can be found here: https://gbatemp.net/threads/new-classic-controller-hacks.659837/

EDIT: You can play the disc games with GamePad support via the injects. There are issues sometimes though

Im not sure about the rest. Good luck!

I know it is not V Wii but its still a good experience.

Sadly injects dont support multiple wii remotes when in gamepad mode. I apologize

EDIT 2: I see you mentioned friends. I will keep you updated if there is a way in the future

I use the wii u pro controllers for everything, every game, wii, vwii, nintendont, etc etc. any game that doesn't natively support the wii u pro controller or for that matter ANY bluetooth controller, use your wii mote and this adapter -

I use this all the time, and it works exactly the way you think it would, plug and play and pair and you're good to go.

So this is why my USBLoaderGX looks like ass in wii menu mode. edit: i found the patch

Bought from that store link (i cant post it) and this did not work for me, it just shut my wiimote off and acted fucky I'm wondering now as i write this if its because I use rechargable batteries and they dont have much power. Damnit might have to order and try again

Thanks both. I'll have a look at both the classic controller hacks and the adapter
Did the receiver work for you?

Doesn't it have too much input lag from bluetooth to wiimote to bluettoth to console ?

Is there any chance you can make a tutorial or just step by step on how to set this up, really want to pull the trigger on this but just want to make sure I know what I’m doing once I receive it

I haven't noticed that at all.
I forgot to ask, since the adapter is a complete separate item you need to pair the controller to, do you have to each time pair back to the Wii U when you have paired it to the dongle ? And then after paired it back to the Wii U need to pair it back to dongle when you are in the vWii ?
