Homebrew Make Download Play Region Free?

A couple years ago I got a Japanese 3DS for imports. In that same year I learned that Download Play is region locked. Last night I modded my Japanese 3DS in the hopes of region unlocking Download Play. I can play my US games, but Download Play is still region locked. Is there any way to make Download Play region free?

Latest versions of luma3ds bypass region locking on download play according to the changelogs. I haven't tested it myself but it may be worth mentioning it

It might be due to having the Japanese version of Download Play installed. Try getting the 0004001000021100.cia USA region version through 3DNUS. You'll need to decrypt it on GodMode9, install through FBI, and re-encrypt the 00000008.app and 0000000a.app found at directory [1:] SYSNAND CTRNAND/title/00040010/0021100/content/ .

You may need to uninstall the JPN download play and clear your cache through Chtulhu. Nintendo may ban you if they detect you have two copies of that title.

Lastly, having USA system titles might affect your ability to update the firmware if we ever go past 11.7.
