Bingo. Couldn't even fathom how I'd get around back to the other one. As far as I'm concerned, I have 1 slot and whatever I put in gets 4gb added onto it.
You remove the motherboard, but yeah it looks like a pain in the ass if you aren't prepared. You basically gotta disassemble the whole thing

Just got the SSD. I need to format it to GPT since I use uefi boot. Any clue how to do this? I'm getting the error that I can't install Windows to the drive because it has an MBR partition type.

EDIT: when I run diskapet, I also see 2 disks. One is 465gb and one is 14gb. Should I ignore the 14gb?

EDIT EDIT: that's the flash drive I'm using to install windows. Im an idiot, I got it now.

How do you plan on moving data over from your old drive? Or are you just planning on trashing that one if the issue is solved with the SSD?
I made an online backup of my original drive before the fresh install of windows with backblaze (not a sponsor, but would like if i could get money from this post). Probably gonna take a hammer to the old drive.

Oh, smart. And yeah, in terms of disposal, nail offset from center + a few good whacks from a hammer = unrecoverable drive
