In an interview that will be published in the upcoming issue of Official Nintendo Magazine, MadWorld director, Shigenori Nishikawa expressed his interest in developing a sequel to the game. Nishikawa stated, “I think MadWorld was very well received and was acknowledged for its innovative graphical style and gameplay. We would definitely be interested in making a sequel in the future.”

It should be noted that Nishikawa’s desire to work on a Wii sequel — he goes on to call the console a “very well-balanced piece of hardware” — conflicts with recent statements made on behalf of MadWorld publisher SEGA, by one of the company’s studio directors, Constantine Hantzopoulos, during a podcast with the staff of 1UP.

Hantzopoulos all but ruled out the possibility of SEGA publishing more M-rated content on the Wii, following dismal sales of on-rails shooter Dead Space: Extraction, published by Electronic Arts last year, which he described as his “litmus test.”

Nevertheless, should SEGA have a change of heart, a more fleshed-out sequel to MadWorld would be most welcome. Personally, I’d like to have more things to do than just beating the crap out of people.

MadWorld did supposedly "bomb", but it's sales are growing little by little. It is having a Japanese release sometime soon anyway.

As for SEGA, I wouldn't be surprised (depending on how well NMH 2 and Red Steel 2 sell), if Ubisoft picks it up. For being shovelware shitters, they sure are picking up a lot of mature titles for the Wii.

Madworld's sales were great considering it was M rated and a niche game. There have been games with better advertising on the PS2 that have sold worse.

I'd love a sequel, never found the game repetitive at all but it was too short. Add some online free for all battles and it should do better.

I think publishers are going to keep an eye on NMH2 to see how well that does. Its in the same sort of niche genre.

I'd love a sequel....but its doubtful. Of course I saw flaws. There was only so much development time Platinum games could put into this game. I would love to see what they could do with more money and time. I was shocked to see Madword had ads. I was even more shocked to see the ads sucked. The whole gimmick of the game was the black and white and most importantly the VIOLENCE. Sega should have emphasized that more. Maybe cause controversy and increase sales? who knows.

never found this to be that interesting... Though I have not tested it yet! Might be fun if I tried it, but right now it just seem to be not my type of game.. If they're making a sequel then It's good for the fans, and I hope they'll make it less repetive IF it now was so in the first place!

That's quite true, they were working on Bayonetta & Infinite Space at around the same time. Pretty impressive when you consider how well those three have reviewed.

Nintendo's consoles are meant for fun.
I don't like M rated content.
Just looking at the pictures of the game made me sick.

You need to lighten up, buddy.

Although for me I'm a soulless bastard who laughs at babies dying.
the dude is 12 years old(judging by his profile) he must learn how funny the combination ironic game+blood can be
