hi,

i bought an M3real in june and i've noticed latelly that its very slow and slugish to operate.
the system icons appear 1 at a time in the M3 menu, and the roms are listed slowly.
i have a microsdhc from Sandisk 4GB.

is this a firmware problem or a hardware problem ?

have you seen this before and anything can be done to fix it?

the only thing i can think of, is when i was trying out a bunch of files, i moved alot fo them back and forth, could this have done something ?

Well, try using Sakura firmware (you can find the link in my sig)..
If you don't want to use Sakura, your best shot would be to format your microSD, and use the last possible firmware!

Try something of this two suggestions, and report here what happened.

i just tried M3 DS Real v3.9 E30 and it didnt change much the speed

but M3 DS Real v3.8 E28 seems a little faster , a little.

if anyone knows if E29 and + have some slower code, it would be a good idea to figure out why.

is it safe to stick with E28 in this case?

Well, why not try Sakura?
Try it and see if it'll speed up the process....If it's slow and breaking..than it's something wrong with your cart..

But to answer your question, yes, why not....You can stick with the E28 if you're satisfied!

I have notice with the M3 Firmware if you keep adding games to the folder that it does seem to become sluggish and even games become buggy or not load ! I would have to wipe the card clean and then put the games back on the card add the new ones at that time. I have switched to using Sakura and it load a lot faster and smoother. also its easy to find game because it auto alphbetize the games at you add them Plus It saves the last 5 games you played on a quick launch which is really cool.

Well, the M3Real is a garbage card in all actuality/reality. I 'nearly' just tossed my two in the garbage, but thanks to the sakura firmware, they have seen new light. In fact both have seen light as now they are my card of choice all thanx to a new firmware. Yes it is 'beta' but by far one of the finest firmware/gui you can use. It may be a bit 'buggy' still, but nothing i have noticed other than not being fully functional as of yet. When a full featured english version emerges, provided they dont change things that may ruin the experience (dont think they will), it will be the finest card/firmware you can get until of course Cyclo unveils their revamped firmware which i can assume will probably follow suit of the sakura, as it is awesome. They could pull the rabbit out of their hat tho with something totally new, but not sure what they could do to enhance what sakura has came up with... For now tho, i am loving the M3, but Cyclo is still the cadillac of card choices for over all features, user friendliness and more.

Actually, there is really a small chance they'll do that.....They aren't even aiming in that direction..
But to make it clear, they are improving Cyclos firmware, but there is one condition they insist...
new firmware MUST be compatible with all previously made skins for Cyclo.....So actually, they limited themselfs in the start..

And not to mention, Moonlight is the guy who worked on Sakura, nobody can actually reach his level of skill..Noone came even close with homebrew applications to his MoonShell!! This guy is almost unreachable (don't think I'm saying he's the best programmer in the World, but he sure is one of the best in NDS flashcarts)..
SO I really don't believe there will be a cart with firmware even near Sakura..

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves

why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages
  • Veho @ Veho:
It does that when I edit a post.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It inserts a newline in a random spot.

do y'all think having an sd card that has a write speed of 700kb/s is a bad idea?
trying to restore emunand rn but it's taking ages... (also when I finished the first time hekate decided to delete all my fucking files )
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@Karma177 that sd card is 100% faulty so yes, its a bad idea
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the slowest non-sdhc sd cards are a few MB/s
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
@The Real Jdbye it hasn't given me any error trying to write things on it so I don't really think it's faulty (pasted 40/50gb+ folders and no write errors)
