SOLUTION: use Decrypt9 for cntrnand transfer. It uses different method of installing it.

Hello there. my friend is having problem with his O3DSXL. He can get to luma settings, but when he clicks start to reboot, it shows this error (attachment):

Processor: ARM9
Exception type: prefetch abort (svcBreak)

First he was on luma 6.6 and A9LH. Now he is on B9S and luma 8.1.1
He can't boot to system (only luma settings and payloads)

What is he doing wrong?
Please help and thanks.

Found this thread. Same problem: https://gbatemp.net/threads/help-cant-boot-after-9-2-0-ctrtransfer.478151/
After 11.5 CTR Tranfer still same error.
After 9.2 CTR Transfer still same error.
Recovery mode doesn't load and gives the same error.
older luma don't work.
Formatting and redownloading all don't work.

Asked homebrew discord. Nobody knows what the heck is wrong with it. Probably something with sysnand.

Hooray, and I thought I were the only one with this problem.
But it only crashes, when I try to start extended memory games like SuMo or SSB.
Anything besides them seems to work fine.
Also done a CTR Transfer and used other Versions of B9S and Luma...but still no luck.
I never got the Problem with A9LH ._.

Try deleting your luma config on sd card and your ctrnand if there is any. That helped me fix some hiccups that I had.
This other option is a pain because it could end up not fixing the issue.
Back up your sd card and format it on the pc. Then just put the backup onto the formatted sd. Try deleing the config first though.

At least you can boot :D. he can't even boot, but he can go to luma config and any payload.

Now we are going to delete everything on sd and redownload it all. Then he will try older luma and some other stuff.

Yep, it boots just fine.
Like I said, the error only appears when I try to ein extended memory games.
It may have something to so with the bootprocess itself, because the emg's restart the O3DS...mh...

Hehe...but it is the same error

I hope someone got a great idea to fix it ._. Or I'll try to get back to A9LH with an older Luma Version....

After CTRTransfer, old 3DSs and 2DSs may need to format (using TinyFormat or the System Settings) to play extended memory mode games (such as Monster Hunter, Super Smash Bros, or Pokemon Sun/Moon)

I'll give it a try. Thanks

UPDATE: it works now. Thank you so much :)

Did you check to see if there was a luma config in your nand? That could also be an issue. What settings have you selected in the luma screen? This sounds more like your fw is corrupted in some way :|

luma config is on sd (and on ctrnand). Selected are these:

Loading external FIRMs and modules
Enable game patching
Show NAND or user string....
Disable ARM11 exception handlers

When he fired it up first (luma 6.6 + A9LH) he had only Show NAND or user string...

Happy to see that it worked. Now let's find something that can help my friend :D
Replace the boot.firm in ctrnand with a newly downloaded one. Dont replace it with one you already have downloaded. Take your sd card out and see if it boots... Turn off everything in luma for now
