Ive just installed Luma on my 2DS XL using the 3ds.hacks.guide method, but on a 4GB sd card, which was the only one i had to hand. Eventually, i would like to switch to a larger sd card, but am not sure how it would work transferring the homebrew over. Could i just copy the files onto the new SD card or would I have to uninstall it and then go through the process again?

If the new SD card is up to 32 GB: simply copy the files from your old SD card and paste into the new SD
If the new SD card is larger than 32gb: Format the new SD card in FAT32 with an application called Guiformat (if you use Windows), then copy the files from the old SD and paste into the new SD
