I've been at this literally all day. I decided to take my Wii out of storage and hook it up. Now first off i've done this before back when it was fairly new and i bricked my old Wii then got a new one and never touched homebrews on it. Figured now why not.

Wii RVL-001
Firmware 4.3U
Have the latest homebrew installed.

Now here's the problem I've been having and i've been trying to find a solution on the forums but everything suggested, Even From Cyan has ultimately failed.

First i used a tutorial on youtube to set up usbloader gx. I ran IOS236 installer, then used cIOSx rev20b to change ios versions. then run usbloader gx. I got it to open but when I tried to copy my games to the system it'll just stay at 0.0%. It wasn't until a few hours later that i found a forum post from cyan suggesting to someone else that had the same issue to us d2x cIOS v10, set slot 249 base 56, slot250 base 57 and get the loader settings to 58. and that...sorta worked, The games started to copy until they reached about 1.77% then it'll either lock up or the transfer speed would decrease to 0KB.

So then i said ok, maybe its my laser or the disc, I got an Iso of a game I was trying to copy (Deadspace Extraction BTW) and loaded it on the thumbdrive i was using just to rule out the disc or reader. Usbloader gx saw the game but when i told it to play it'll crash loader and go back to homebrew app. Then i tried an external HDD to avoid any problems with thumbdrives, Same thing. Then i decided to try wiiflow. so i got the latest wiiflow and Even then it won't play the game.

So, I'm at a lost, I can't get either loader to copy or play the game.

I need help, i'm going mad over this, I don't remember ever having this issue years ago just popped a game in and copy.

don't use flash drive ?
you said you tried HDD, but the "1%" freeze is usually caused by flash drive :/

Be sure your HDD is FAT32 32k/cluster.
NTFS should work fine too, but FAT32 is the most used format for all homebrew (and all consoles)

Even From Cyan has ultimately failed.
often people think they have the same problem than another user, and they have to apply the same solution, but it's wrong.
To me, your issue feels like you used Flash drive to install/dump the disc to wbfs.

One thing you did good is to replace your cIOS rev20b with d2x v10 r52 (you installed r52, right? not r53)
rev20b has a bug and freeze games and wiimote. And it's very old, doesn't have all latest features and fixes.

I'll have to double check for you, i believe its r52.

First, we'll need a SysCheck. Make sure to use that version of it, as some other versions don't have as much detail.
I knew you needed syscheck but wasn't sure how to post it. However i have it now.

Yes it's r52, I also used the latest usbloadergx and wii flow. However, i don't think i have the latest homebrew channel, i'm not sure if that makes a difference or not.

Also i used Priiloader first then undid every changes i made to see if that was an issue so i didn't mention is before. And i figured i'd post the tutorial i used in case its wrong or outdated.

And after I made this post i tried to revert any changes to IOS to try and get back to stock so i can just start off again from scratch.

your syscheck is showing your setup is wrong. (and has too many empty lines, you could have deleted them, and used a spoiler tag like explained in syscheck guide)
you don't have cIOS installed anymore, your slot249 is stub (dummy IOS from nintendo to prevent piracy)

You need to install d2x v8 final, or v10 r52
249 base 56, 250 base57

But that's the the issue of your freeze when you game install because you said you are using IOS58 in the loader.

So I reformatted my wii and trying this again from scratch, I used d2x V10 Beta52, and i did tell cios installer 249 base 56 and 250 base 57 i'm trying this one more time cuz. idk i'm at a lost still.

So now that i'm starting from scratch lets go down a check list.

used please.hackmii. to get a fresh version of homebrew channel.

used d2x cIOS to install base 56 249, base 57 250.

don't do random things (like formating !)
don't follow ANY youtube video tutorial (wrong, outdated, dangerous)

if you need something, ask and wait for the answer. Don't assume what you do is fine.

Sorry, I get a bit impatient. I realized now that it makes my syscheck unusable. But the good news is I was able to play a backup using wiiflow / usbloader gx. However i still cannot install games.

So one problem down one to go.

I provided the new syscheck

I'm just not gonna touch it now until someone replies. Sorry again, I felt that it'll be best to just start off fresh with how badly the cIOS was done.

That looks fine now.

It's not uncommon for backing up to USB to fail, though. My physical HDD freezes if I try to dump a game to it, too, but it works fine otherwise. I just use a 16GB SD card and CleanRip to dump discs.

USB loader gx version: 3.0 r1268

So far here's what i have and can do.

Sandisk USB3.0 256 GB thumbdrive
2TB Seagate Firecude (hybrid drive) I know it's overkill its the only external i currently have.

Both are fat32 32k cluster formatted. I have been able to get games to boot off both devices, however I still cannot copy.

I've been able to get usbloader to copy to the thumbdrive but when it gets to 16% it locks up. This could be a result of a bad disc or laser but now when i try it again its just stuck at 0.0%

Currently trying the SSHDD again to see if it'll get further, but that raises a new question... If this works then does that mean SSDs are compatible?

As I'm typing this its at 33% so further than the thumbdrive so maybe that was one of the other issues.

But a question about all of this. Does it matter if something is USB 3.0 or flash storage like an SSD?

I wanted to update this and say i got it all working. After reformatting to get the cIOS resolved and using a HDD over thumbdrive all issues have been resolved. Even gamecube games are working.

The only thing now is setup questions. Thinks like getting the best out of usb loader gx and nintendont. the right settings. Also finding good homebrews or "must have" ones.

But for right now it's working, I'm able to backup both my wii and gamecube collection to either a HDD or SSD. I appreciate the help and apologize again for hastily reformatting the wii and all.

Formatting the Wii wasn't dangerous, but hast decision like that on WiiU and you'd have got your WiiU dead.
Glad everything is working fine now.

As for the best settings, it's not easy to tell as each user have its own taste.
USBLoaderGX should already have the best settings as default.
you only need to get gametdb's title database to get proper game's filename and description.

Settings > update > Wiitdb.xml
Settings > Features > Use Gametdb : Yes

when you brows the games, press 1 or 2 on the wiimote to display game's info, or download missing covers automatically from gametdb.com

Open CFG Loader, and push + to install the disc game. It's that easy.

It doesn't Flash is actually better. Less power draw, and shouldn't run into the HDD sleeping problem. I personally use a 128GB USB nano-sized USB 3.0 stick by Samsung. Loads games great, and doesn't stick out.

not all flash drives are working.
they are not using the same USB interface communication function than HDDs, and cIOS are not compatible. (well, even IOS58 have issues with *some* Flash drives).

based on the recent number of users having issues with flash (since 2018, flash are in sale or what?), it's best to not recommend any without specific model/PID/VID. I guess old ones are working better.

Loading game is usually fine with Flash, but you can't dump game to it.
read is fine, write is not.

it could probably be fixed if someone was still working on cIOS development.
