I did vote for my ds is ok. The first DS I got was a black one and had a dead pixel on the touch screen. I exchanged it for the white one. The strange thing is the white one as a grey pixel on the supercard screen which is on the touchscreen. No problems anywhere else as the pixel seems to be right on all the games. Very strange.

My DS Lite has a stuck pixel. It's green.

Also, the bottom right hand corner of my touchscreen is somewhat loose (I can feel it go in when I press it and it doesn't do that with the other corners). Is that also a defect that should be fixed? Or is that normal?

I'm likely to be sending it to Nintendo for repair/replacement (primarily for the pixel).

Also, I got my DS Lite shortly after the U.S. Launch (like a week or so)

might be a problem as mine doesn't do that...

...however, i do have to press a little harder on the touchscreen at the edges to get a response... is that normal..? not too much harder, but i can't just do a soft tap like i can with other places...

I have 2 US NDSL systems in our household. The first one had a very loose volume slider from the start. The slider has about .5mm of play that allows me to push it into the housing. Nothing I can't live with.

The second system I bought had to be returned b/c the top screen was mounted at a slight angle and so it was crooked. Took it back and they exchanged it with a sealed unit that had a spec of dried glue on the top screen. They reluctantly opened another one that turned out to be perfect.

I had that too before I replaced my white DS with a black one, the pixel turned light-blue whenever there was a purple background. You could see it on the config screen. And only there. I didn't realize this, so when I went to go and replace it they told me to show the pixel cause they couldn't find it. I was like WTF, then I told them to go to the config screen and there it was. They told me it was a stuck pixel. Then I got my black DS.

Voted A-OK too. Got a Black DS at UK Launch. Never had to return it. Not had any problems whatsoever. Extremely happy with it. Flashed with ease too....

The only thing I managed to mess up was putting on my Hori screen protectors...did it in too much of a rush and now I have a small bubble on the top screen (bottom screen is perfect). It ain't noticable when games are playing, but I might just take it off, only need the bottom screen protected anyways....

Been through 4 DSLites today...

Bought a Black one last week here in Gibraltar (British colony, but attached to the south of Spain) .. noticed a weird grey bit on the top screen yesterday, it looked like a bit of dust. Took it back today and the fun began...

The shop I got it from was one of those "you buy, I tell you what, me make special deal, you buy" sort of places, there isn't much choice in Gib, so I was surprised when the guy instantly went and got me a new one. I opened it up before leaving to check it, same problem (that and there was a massive finger print on the screen, new my arse), so I had to take a white one instead which seemed fine. Got that one home, popped Mario and Luigi in it... 2 green stuck pixels. Went back to the shop again and got told "this last exchange, no more" and this one even though it was it a white one seemed perfect. Then I went off and bought Animal Crossing (Ain't got a DS flash cart yet), and noticed a pin prick sized white spot on the bottom screen when it has the black background at the Nintendo logo bit of the intro.

I'm not sure what to do now .. I could take it back again tomorrow and try to get my money back or an another one, send it back to Nintendo (Still waiting for Nintendo to get back to me if the service centre in England will take it, It'd get back quicker if it went to Spain though), or just hope it goes away.. it's not really that noticeable.. there again I only bought the original one a week ago.

I'm leaving the intro to Mario and Luigi running for a bit to see if it shifts it. Fingers crossed

Take that shit back. 'Me customer, you shop, me want product perfect, NO FLAW!'. That's unacceptable. My DS Wite is great. Got it 2 weeks and some change after the launch. Didn't even plan on getting one, just happened.

Ok, going to go back one last time and try and get a good one or my money back.
In revenge I'm keeping the spare stylus out of each one, maybe I should take the VIP points too.

Mine is fine too (because, I didn't use it yet...)

But, someone can tell me How can I "check" If it is OK?(for each problem...) ( I just know about the "Cracked Hinge"...)

Thanks!

Ok, DSLite number 5 ... got my money back and went to another shop, paid £10 extra though >_<
If you're buying a DSLite take a game with you! One that has light and dark backgrounds and test it before you leave the shop, I've got a feeling all the dead pixels are because they bounced them around when they smuggled them in from Spain to Gib.

TFT is such a bag of crap.

Wow... Gotta admit this is a lot of problematic DS Lites! Let's hope Nintendo reduces this percentage in upcoming productions...

Sorry about forgetting the "yellowish" screen in the poll options. Kinda late but I should've added "I've had other problems" to the answers...

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves

why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages

It does that when I edit a post.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It inserts a newline in a random spot.

do y'all think having an sd card that has a write speed of 700kb/s is a bad idea?
trying to restore emunand rn but it's taking ages... (also when I finished the first time hekate decided to delete all my fucking files )
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@Karma177 that sd card is 100% faulty so yes, its a bad idea
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the slowest non-sdhc sd cards are a few MB/s
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
@The Real Jdbye it hasn't given me any error trying to write things on it so I don't really think it's faulty (pasted 40/50gb+ folders and no write errors)
