Battle system looks like non-shit. Like you actually do something unlike, well, every JRPG in the past 25 years.

Story, it's a JRPG so if you were expecting one that isn't pants-on-head retarded, then you're doing it wrong.

Verdict: Better looking than FFXIII or XIII-2.

I have yet to see the video so I can not comment on that but I might have to take exception to the quoted part. Had this been at the end of the PS2 era I would have mostly agreed with you but for my money this last go around saw more than a handful of games demand some proper thought, an eye/mind for 3d visualisation and fast reactions/good timing (beyond token quick time/button mashing events in the occasional special move that have been around for years). Granted I am mainly thinking of three games when I say it (Resonance of fate, Eternal Sonata and MagnaCarta 2) but given those games frequently threw me back to playing might and magic titles intend to stand by them.

I would also like to underline that judging from the trailer, you are not sentenced to walk The Final Hallway.

Welcome to NextGen. ;O;

this is supposed to be current gen on the ps3? wtf did square do blow all the money on the goofy armor clothes or the dumb sunglasses ?

Seriously, what the world needs right now is yet another shit Final Fantasy game. They've done nothing but shit FF games for a very long time, and that includes the PSP games. The DS Revenant Story was probably the last half decent one. Either make something good or let the series die.

No offense but... that's not a very informative USN post.
That's Soulx!

I think it eloquently describes my thoughts on the game. And it's just a trailer. what else would i add?
"Here cometh the long-awaited "sequel" to the latest in Final Fantasy series, the trailer shows the finest of its completely unique features and appears to be crafted specifically for the long-term fan's viewing pleasure!"

...okay, your version works better, fine. :dry:

Lightning reminds me of a female Cloud Strife.

That's the thing. In an interview, Shitsuya Nomura said that he tried to make Lightning like Cloud as much as possible. Hence the reason why there's no FFVII remake because they said they won't do it until they make a game better than FFVII. But that's never going to happen because Hironobu Sakaguchi left and took all talent with him (himself being the only talented one at Square). And look what happened, he gives us games like Lost Odyssey and The Last Story which are already better than anything Square has pumped out since he left.

I am done with Final Fantasy games for now. I can't imagine things turning around for a very long time. Until they bring in more talented people I will expect more crappy RPG's like FFXIII, and its sequels. I tried very hard to enjoy those games, but they aren't what they used to be. Many series go down hill, and many people are just too blinded by all the hatred. The thing is, some of these games are actually very bad, which is why they quickly go on sale from the lack of sales.

Mass effect becomes a trilogy with main focus on one character and nearly everyone loves it.

When Final Fantasy does it, all fandoys and haters go psycho.

This is why companies can never try new things. Cause of hypocritical bastards, fanboys and the haters.

There's one critical, crucial difference I think you're missing: Mass Effect created a fascinating, yet cohesive and coherent universe filled with interesting, relatable characters. FFXIII, on the other hand... yeah, no, not even close.
