Will I be able to play Left 4 Dead on a PC that runs Half-Life 2 Deathmatch fine?

EDIT: Forgot to add that the PC is old, 5+ years old.

Left 4 Dead requires a little more hardware than HL2..

How "fine" can you run that? High settings? Than you should be fine..
Low settings? Definitely not :/

I think your video card can't handle it.

Celeron Processor? 768 MB of RAM? An old graphics card from the GeForce 4 series?

Well, basically you can, but not on higher settings. And since you have a 15" monitor you play on a low resolution anyway so I don't know. Try to download some kind of demo or pirate it and see if it works well and if it does go out and buy it. Probably it should automatically set the settings to what fit your computer. If it doesn't work, try to set them even lower if possible and if that doesn't work, no sorry.

I can run HL2DM on high settings, the settings even recommend them and it doesn't lag.

I did pirate it a couple of weeks ago just to try it but I just got a black screen, there were sound but no image.

Is it possible to lower the settings before starting the game?

That didn't make much sence.
High will be good but low won't??? ...

Whi;e your at it, pick up more RAM

If he can run HL2 on high settings, then, his computer is good.. so he can run Left 4 Dead, which requires a good computer..

Else if he can run HL2 on low settings only, then, his computer is not so good.. hence, Left 4 Dead won't run..

Can you understand it now?
