i try running mario kart deluxe specifically, any idea?

I'm having the same problem, I think the Switch isn't connecting to lan-play. In my case it's Splatoon 3 and Splatoon 2. Did you manage to solve it?

As someone who's made lan play "work" for a few weeks, I'd say it's not worth bothering with. It simply doesn't work well even if you have everything set up correctly. I played a few Mario Kart 8 races while being on a dedicated Discord and every single race, there would be a disconnection.

I expected it to be an issue to fix but the guy I was racing with was just like "no it's normal, it's just lan play, let's start another race", which would also disconnect after a couple of laps. That would be the default. In the end it's really not worth it, so I wouldn't even bother trying to set it up.

For all the headache you're setting yourself up to experience, it would be wiser to simply buy the NSO membership (if your Switch isn't banned), which is why I ended up doing. Just my 2 cents.
