Hi GBAtempers,

My thirst for RTS is unextinguishable...Did anyone tried SC64 on Lakka yet ?
The N64 emulation looks pretty solid, but I wonder if it can handle a zerg rush.

In lakka I'd say there is a 99.99% chance that it works very very well. In HorizonOS + RetroArch, I'd say it *could* work with the right emulation and OC settings (Never tested)

Thank you for your response, it is very kind of you.

SXOS+Retroarch doesn't work so I assume HorizonOS+retro should be the same.
Soooo, I'll dive right away in the wonderful world of Lakka :)

Cheers

i played a little wirh retroarch to starcraft, but playing rts games on console is a bad idea, very slow

Sorry pal, but RTS on console are the best, no micromanagement stuff, ego ladder nor APM frenzy, just plain strategy. :teach:
RA3, C&C1, Halo Wars were really good games with a controller, just imagine them on the go. Even SC64 had very clever settings and I LOVED it on my JXD7800.

To be honest, :gun:FPS is the genra that was never meant to be played on console, nobody can handle a proper headshot without a mouse.
But Halo or Splatoon are not CS1.6 and are successful because they were designed (and simplified) for a controller, like the games I stated above.

That being said, SC64 runs on lakka, but at 10~20FPS. I tried everything but no, not enjoyable at all.
Reicast cdis don't even launch (Space channel 5 and Starlancer).
Metroid prime and Sonic adventure 2 run like dead horses.

At least, street of rage is full speed.
But I guess I should learn how to configure cores correctly, there are no compatibility list on the net, I should start one.

Installing Lakka is wonderfully easy, launching it through the SX menu and injecting Hekate payload is really cool stuff.
This software is impressive !

Well, yes, at the end its a matter of tastes, for me rts is not about consoles because of the management and speed, also fps its not ideal for me on consoles except with gyro aiming.
But if someone likes one of them its ok anyway, not gonna argue for a second about it.

Definitely true.
I'm glad you enjoy RTS btw.

But the issue is that, more than individual taste, the proverbial "RTS are for PC" alone has done a lot of prejudice to this genra, despite the effort of some devs to adapt the gameplay to consoles (even on DS for **** sake, "Command and destroy" wasn't that bad !).

Petroglyph almost dropped the port of 8bit armies to the NS and, even after two years on the market, Ted Morris (executive prod of petroglyph) told me that he was shocked that not a single RTS hit this successful console.

Strategy is even not popular to begin with, half baked tacticals with cute anime grils is all we need.
