you signed up for this, you're not backing out now.
on the other hands ? did this really start the gaming fad ?
is it still playable today, or just an old mess ?

Yes, it pushed video games into the mainstream.
I'd personally say that it's still a fun game.
Not letting the ball go into your side.

SOOOOOO, when exactly did you get your hands on this game, the original, a copy, or using an emulator ?

I got this game as part of the Atari Flashback 2+ around my tenth birthday.

How do you adequately predict where the hell the ball's gonna go?
I swear my hand-eye coordination ain't that bad, but I keep missing.

Does this game (the original) has an AI opponent, or is it just 2-player?

And one that clearly shows I don't know my classics: is it possible to add a spinning effect to the ball, or was that something that was added in later clones/lookalikes?

(oh, and +1 for VinLark's question: I'm more interested to know to what degrees that this game drove in audiences than in the actual game itself. But that may be beyond the scoop of this thread  )

Because a person thinks it's good. (The same logic can be used to say the game is bad.)
Exactly how you would in a game of tennis, by keeping an eye on it.
The original Pong cabinets needed two players.
That was only added in later clones/lookalikes.

But see, I'm semi-decent at tennis but I can't play Pong for the life of me. The wall bounces get me every time.

You're just going to need to get used to the wall bounces.

S'pose so. I always underestimate the degree of bounce.

I'd say the Sears Pong Sports IV because of it's funky color scheme.
