It seems Activision just had some kind of press event where they announced a bunch of stuff including Call of Duty going to new genres, Guitar Hero PSP, StarCraft II in 2009, and a new Transformers and Spiderman game in 2010.

This is all in a giant liveblog format, but I'll update the OP much better as I read through all this more closely.

Edit 1: Still have more coming but I thought people might want to see some of this a bit earlier.

* Call of Duty Series Heading To New Genres
* Guitar Hero PSP (Will Feature Drum Component)
* StarCraft II Out In 2009
* New Transformers In 2010
* New Spiderman In 2010
* New James Bond In 2010
* New Tony Hawk In 2010
* Shrek 4 (In 2010?)
* StarCraft II Beta This Summer
* New European Targeted Music Game IP That May Or May Not Be DJ Hero
* Either Guitar Hero 5 Or Guitar Hero Van Halen Releasing September 1st (Not Clear Which)
* Activision Believes Physical Interfaces (Peripherals) Are Now Greatly Important, Cites DJ Hero And Tony Hawk: Ride
* Activision's CEO Talks About Rising Game Prices (Due To Peripherals) And How They're Still A Good Value
* Mike Griffith: "Simply put, on Call of Duty, each year has been better than the year before."
* Call Of Duty Poducts Have Totalled Over 35 Million Units
* Activision Wishes To "'monetize online gameplay even further,' starting with more downloadable content."
* StarCraft 1 Has Sold More Than 11 Million Copies
* Diablo Franchise Over 20 Million Copies
* WoW Now At 11.5 Million Subscribers [Note: It Has Been For Quite A While, Seems To Have Finally Peaked]
* "Griffith says the concept of Blur falls in between the hardcore tuner sims and just-for-fun arcade racers. Mario Kart in particular shows the potential for a well-crafted mainstream racing game. But where Mario Kart was limited to one system, Blur will be multiplatform, Griffith notes. He throws to a trailer with the tagline that the company wants it to do to racing games what Call of Duty did to shooters."
* The next question is on how to monetize the Battle.net platform. Morhaime simply responds, "I'm not ready to talk about that today." [Note: Oh God]

In other words

Actiision CEO: "Expect us to continue whoreing out and milking all our franchises."

Seriously spin offs? Every point mentioned sounds like a method that doesn't have the consumers value in mind. Saying high priced peripherals are a good value doesn't make it true Activision.

Call of Duty to new genres. Interesting. maybe going towards Halo Wars.

Or something different?

Yeah, I can see that happening

Probably an RTS on the consoles, crap.
Why not stay a shooter, keep doing what you're good at.
That Blur sounds pretty good too, hopefully they can make it happen (also on PC)

Because most companies want to aim at every kind of people, look at Halo Wars.
