Hey guys, I'm picking up a new PS4 which I plan to fully update and keep online. I currently have a 5.05 running CFW and its activated with PSN. If I log into my new console and activate that one, will my old one deactivate? I know it normally will, but since I'm on 5.05 and not connected to PSN, will it stay activated? I want to still be able to copy saves and such, so it needs to be activated.

You can't access PSN on anything lower than 6.00.

I don't understand...What do you mean you need PSN to copy saves? You mean uploading them to Sony's cloud, then download them on the newer PS4? No. You get banned the moment it "phones home" with the list of backups you played on 5.05 that you don't own. It sends what you installed since the last time you logged in, how often you play them, that sort of stuff. It was the same with the PS3. I think you need to restore the PS4 to factory settings (which wipes everything) before updating it or selling, so they won't access your PSN account (or you could just change the password).

I'm 99% sure that your 5.05 PS4 is already logged out from PSN automatically after two weeks on inactivity, to prevent people from downloading (bought) PSN games on a PS4, going offline, and then keep playing those games. It's what Brazilians circumvented using Raspberry Pi's in 2014-2015 or so, and what the 6.20 "method" is all about (link).

A, it’s not running cfw, it’s HEN.
B, it’s not signed into PSN, and hasn’t been since 5.07 came out if you’re on 5.05.
C, signing in with another console cannot deactivate your old one, it’s all good.

@DSpider you need an activated profile (One that’s has been on at least once, but not not necessarily active currently on PSN) to use usb backup of saves, however I think you can backup the entire console including saves and fpkg games by using the system back up feature.

You could obviously install the activated profile to get this, or have had your console on PSN in the past before 5.05.

I have never done either, so I cannot backup saves to usb natively, but I can with save mounter.
