There's a list of essentials in this subforum.
But if you used vita.hacks.guide, you probably hame most of what's needed to get up to speed.
Games are a bit of a personal preference, but Metal Gear, Killzone Mercenary, Wipeout 2048, Uncharted, Jak and Daxter will surely keep you busy.

And PSP coupled with PSX is just too good to pass up.

Adrenaline for PSP mode is worthwhile.

There's also a small piece of hardware you can buy to put a microSDXC in the game cart slot. Software also exists to swap the mount points of that game drive with your "internal storage", so you can actually have expansive storage for games without paying out the nose on the ridiculously priced proprietary SD cards.
