So what's the best thing to do to get it to run back-ups? I'm kinda confused, because my old Wii bricked quite some time ago and I was wondering what I should do now. I heard the newest Wii's can't be softmodded, so it is better to get a modchip or use an USB loader with a HDD?

Couldn't really find a similar topic...

Every Wii can be modded. There are sticky tutorials that you can read in the hacking section. Before you do anything major, you want to go find out what system menu version your Wii is running.

Apparently I got 3.3E. I already checked some topics, and I'm probably sure I can get the homebrew channel on there myself.

I was just wondering how much of a hassle it is to play games. I remember having to install several IOS en cIOS things (can't remember exactly everything since it was already quite some time ago), is this still the case? Because installing a new cIOS each time a new game comes out is pretty annoying.

Also, I want to install anti-brick software asap, because my other Wii bricked too. What should I install?

It would also be cewl if someone with knowledge could add me to MSN ([email protected]) so I can ask some questions and quickly get some answers...

Thanks in advance though! ;D

It's really not that tough now, its basically a few steps depending on if you want to go to 4.1 system menu which has SD channel, I do recommend that this guide is great for it I used it to go to 4.1 on two wiis this past weekend

http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=171901

this is it in a nutshell...
prepare sd card, use bannerbomb to get HBC, Bootmii and DVDX...you may need to downgrade IOS36 to install cIOS38rev14 as IOS249, if not run installer for cIOS38rev14, Use backup launcher...thats it its very simple anymore, and risk free if you have the ability to install bootmii into boot2, which it sounds like you may be able to if you are on 3.3

I used the following guide:

http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=168890

But I'm still on 3.3E. What's the next step? I looked at that guide you gave me but it also says I need to install all other kinds of IOS files that I didn't have to before so I'm kinda confused...

I also read the 4.2 safe updater guide, but the guide I linked to above said it was a bad idea to update to 4.1.

So what's the best thing I can do right now?

EDIT: Also, I think I installed it on boot2, because whenever I turn on my Wii it boots "BootMii" (the screen that says I can go to System Menu or HBC). Anyway, if I put autoboot at system menu, how can I access the BootMii menu when starting up? Do I hold a button?

EDIT2: My old Wii was bricked because I updated it when trying to play the Monster Hunter Tri demo. I heard something about a Universal Unbrick Disc now. Can I use that to unbrick that Wii? I heard it needs a modchip for it to be able to, and it has a WiiKey (the first one) in it, so it might right? But I don't know for sure because the WiiKey is a really old modchip.

Anyway, I hope I get some answers soon.

Real EDIT: Crap, pressed the wrong button, and now I double posted >_< Sorry...
