Hardware Just got a red 3DS...

wondering what I should do from here?...should I "hack" it?...what games should I buy right now that are recommended?

You can't hack it, you can buy a FC to play DS games, the games that a have and recommend is Mario 3D land and Zelda.
I'm goin to buy Starfox this month.

Can't be hacked at the moment, just wait. Buy a flashcard like BrunoAlvesMonteiro says, to play some great DS games.

an ak2i will do, as long as it has a HardWare Identity (HWID) of 8181 (commonly abbreviated as HW81). You can go to Start > more > help to see your HWID. You will also need a ds phat/lite or dsi/3ds that your ak2i can still run on.

Download the latest bootloader update, so that your ak2i can run on the latest 3ds firmware. Read the readme and place the correct updater onto the root, depending on the system you're using to update (either a ds phat/lite or a dsi/3ds). Boot the updater and do as prompted; wait until the update process completes.
