This isnt a port of the classic Amiga/SNES/Megadrive game, I've yet to come across any of the levels from that game.

Anyone who hasnt played Robocod in any form before, get the original version before playing this, although it's a decent plattform game and a damn sight better than most games out there it dosnt have the same magic as the original, it's kinda like the hacked versions of Super Mario World where the levels have been replaced by new ones.

The music is messed up too, and WHERE THE F@$% ARE THE PENGUINS!!
This game has a lot of bugs, there only seems to be 3 tunes in it too. Also some of the enemies don't belong in some of the levels levels and the bosses take about several hits to die and don't come after you like they did in the original.

But for some reason I keep playing it.

Am I a hypocrite for wanting a perfect port of this even though I moan everytime someone rehashes an old game?

rofl all the dutchies seem to like this game

anyways me too!!

Ohhhh yeah! Man James Pond 2 is one of my top 5 games of all times on the one and only AMIGA!

But I don`t think that the brilliant copper effects that the AMIGA version had, are not possible on the GBA. Nooooo. REALLY NOT!
Only AMIGA makes it possible.
I remember that I got the SKID ROW release just a few days after they`d released it.
STUCK IN 1991! Woooooo lovely

Good lord...never thought I`d see this...fish?...again! Remember playing the 3rd part of the series A LOT on Genesis years and years ago, frustrating it was, yes. Funny that they decided to port Robocod, since this is the 2nd part in the original series isn`t it? The first one and the 3rd one were better imo, starting from level design ending to gameplay.

But whatever, I see this has no release number and some1 mentioned that it`s a redo more than a port. A beta perhaps? And is this conversion official or just a fan re-make? Nevermind, think I`ll get this and start pulling my hair out with it again...

Damn...this game is Genesis old. They didn't change a damn thing either! All I'm gonna need now is Coach K Basketball and Eternal Champions and I'll feel right at home

If you read the posts you would read that the game isn't an exact port of the Genesis/Megadrive version.

I've just checked the game out and it is quite different to the original... it's very likely to be a port of the PS1 version of Robocod, I havn't played it but I believe some changes were made to that. As for the GBA game compared to the original version, the graphics and sound do take a little battering, and they've completely messed about with the level design or order by the looks of things...

To be honest the James Pond 1 and 3 were a lot better and it's kinda strange to see these havn't been ported to one machine or another in years...

Anyway the GBA can do a lot worse platformer wise than James Pond 2 so I'll probably stick this on my flash cart for a quick blast (VBA doesn't really do games justice). I was tempted to buy it if I saw it about in the high street but the fact that it's not very faithful to the original kinda annoys me... the absense of even simple things like snow effects at the beginning of the game just seem lazy on part of the developers... prehaps I'll be lazy and not bother buying this, seems fair, heh.

man, this title is sooo wierd. the title looks like robocop if u just glance at it. and then it says james pond, interesting....

And there I was thinking that this was a lame rippoff of a james bond and robocop combo....

I'll have to try this one out.

Okay yea it brings back memories from my sega days...he he Eternal Champions, lets not forget Bubsy.....what else did I do with that box? oh Vectorman, Boogerman, lol okay so yea really reminds me of those days with the fast platformers where you run around big levels. So far I have only played for about 15 minutes and while it is not all faithfull, it is nice to see another platformer on the GBA. I may flash it, not sure yet.

i don't agree with you, james pond was awful and short, james pond 3 was ugly and less interessant than james pond 2 : robocod. the 2 is the most popular, the funniest with a maximum of humor and the most original. The genesis version was excellent but for some reason they suppress some layers that were on the amiga version and that were ported on snes (instead of seeing a black background, you can see some bears, a scrolling in the background of the first boss).

the genesis version was faster and longest than the amiga one, the snes version was mostly a mix of the two but it slows down awfully and at least was less good than the 2 others.

the gba game is different and as it is not numbered i suppose that it's a bad dump.
