Hacking Issues Transfering OOT Gateway Save

Hey folks,
I was able to track down an OOT retail cart and my currently only means of transferring saves is an r4i dongle (I do not have a 3DS or XL, only a NEW 3DS on 9.0. The save dongle progress gets to about 25% and then fails.

Does this mean my cart is not compatible or is it an issue witht eh dongle?

Actually I figured it out. It seems I needed to have a save file to overwrite. WHat I did before is wipe the game clean. Not the right way to do it. lol.
