Unpopular opinion, but I hate Zelda 64. I'm also probably the only person on Earth who prefers FF8 to FF7, and Chrono Cross to Chrono Trigger.

Don't know if it is that unpopular an opinion. With games that make a certain tremendous pioneering impact like FE7 and OoT, it is hard to see them for what they are in retrospect. Back then, there was nothing like it. Right now? OoT is actually quite low on my list; BotW, WW and ALttP I rate above it, and I'd rather play Minish Cap, MM and LA to be honest. FE8 btw I think has a lot going for it; the most elegant class system, characters and character pairings I've ever seen in Fire Emblem, and also, two lords that actually rock. Plus you get to fight a variety of real monsters.

n64 oot is definitely worse than tp hd, but 3ds remake could very well trump that. a link between worlds which is basically a remake as well, is up there as well. but i took those out of the equasion, remember ?

I completely agree. A lot of the time when I hear people refer to Ocarina of Time as the best Zelda ever made I'm wondering if they're saying that due to nostalgia or because they truly think that is the case. As for me personally - I loved playing Twilight Princess back in the day on my Gamecube. It was a beautiful game and since I had the Gamecube version I didn't have to bother with stupid motion controls.

That being said, my favorite Zelda games would be the SNES & GB/GBC ones.

Link's Awakening DX is by far my favorite. The definitive way to play it is on Retroarch with the LCDx3 shader turned on, it looks just like a real Gameboy Color screen.

I personally love Minish Cap. The only good game that had very unique gameplay style.

I'm also a big fan of minish cap. Got it on both my Wii u and 3ds. But I have to say the 3ds looks and feel much better playing due to virtual consoles just enlarges the image on the Wii u, with terrible scaling. Resulting in a very upscaled and fells like a less enjoyable experience.

It's a great game nonetheless! One of my favourites!

No it was added in the Wii u version afaik. Same as WW hd introduced hero mode. Can't wait for botw hero mode!

If you're only going to judge them based on their graphical appearance, why would you compare the original N64 game to a Wii U HD re-release of a Gamecube/Wii game while at the same time barring the enhanced re-release of the N64 game?
Something doesn't add up.

OOT is the best Zelda game ever, and one of the best games of all time. No other Zelda comes close remake or original it doesn't matter.

upon playing botw i fell deeply in love with it and figured it definitely came out on top over oot, which i glorified above everything else for years now. i had preordered the original n64 release and remember the crying kids who didnt get a copy that day, while i was walking straight home, ready to devour it for the coming weeks. my room was plastered with oot posters for years as well...

but besides the nostalgia and the gloryous 3ds remake, one has to come to the conclusion - botw is the definite zelda and is one of the best games of all time!

lol everyones like TPHD is 50-75 dollars! and im sitting here staring at my sealed amiibo bundle copy i paid 25 for last year on black friday at walmart lol didnt open it cuz my wii u is modded

i got twilight princess wiiu plus amiibo on the box and stuff for like 35 euros used on one of my countrys used stuff being sold, heck you can buy them used for very little here, dont know why people are saying over 75$ that is like over the original price at retail lol.

Twilight Princess was a godsend for me when I first bought a Wii. I thought it was the fucking best shit ever. There was one day when I played the game for 10 hours; this is not an exaggeration. I picked up Twilight Princess HD and regret forcing myself to finish it. I can't explain why but replaying the game so many years later just wasn't the same. It felt boring and wasn't worth my time.

If you were to make me name the "best" Zelda game I'd go with Majora's Mask on the N64. I really wish it was remade on the Wii U, not 3DS.
