Homebrew Is turning off Screen Burn reduction really necessary?

Back in the day I followed around three or so guides to make sure it was all good while hacking my console. I remember I turned off Screen Burn reduction in settimfs because they told me so. Is this really necessary? Does it affect any Homebrew or can it affect your homebrewed console? It's literally just an option that lowers the screen's brightness after 5 minutes without usage
 
As far as I know, the main reason not to enable it homebrew-wise is HID-to-VPAD. If you play using a USB HID controller, the screen will dim after 5 minutes because you haven't touched any "real" controllers.

I think that was mostly for plasma tvs, which were around at about the same time the wii u was released. lcd, possibly led and oled, won't be a problem.
