I recently received a DSi XL with an R4 Gold (probably clone) in the mail. When I inserted the R4 into the DS, it just shows a blank cart.

Not a real R4 Gold actually, a very bad clone...

Does the microSD has proper firmware files for it to be recognized as a cart?

Do you have the right firmware files on the cart?

The website doesn't exists anymore so I placed some R4 Wood files instead. I don't know where to find the correct files.

Edit: I used a SDHC sd card. I am unable to find a non-SDHC card anymore.

I would definitely use a non-SDHC card to figure it out. I would also try out Retrogamefan's work, as he has a lot of loaders for clones and such. (I would start with the TTDS, and go from there) Man, I am jealous... I know what firmware all of my carts take. This seems like a fun problem to nail down. (I am weird, I know)
