I dont know either, maybe you can report a stolen nintendo switch , but that will only be valid if you have the box or reciept.

It's just a good practice to never post your actual serial number. I dont know what anyone could do with it but why take the risk? This isnt switch specific. It's a known practice for any device to not post your serial number online. This isnt 1995 when the internet was brand new. People have known this for decades
