So, I am looking around for a USB Y cable in my country, but because my country doesn’t have amazon or eBay, I can’t use an external HDD for my Wii U, I found a thread here which states that USB drives can be useful, so I found this USB drive online, is it good for the Wii U?

Flash drives aren't recommended for Wii/Wii U, most of them don't work with USB loaders and Wii U mode will wear them out quickly due to writing a lot of data in standby mode. I can recommend an external SSD instead as they are fairly cheap these days, I got a 500GB A-Data SSD for not that much more than a HDD and it works without a Y-cable.

I agree with the @The Real Jdbye. Avoid using USB flash drives if you care about your save files and having to reinstall games every time the drive breaks.

How about SDUSB setup? It might sound difficult to set up at first, but you can have all your Wii, GameCube and Wii U games on a big enough high endurance SD card and no external HDDs and their cables around your console. Not sure whether your budget allows you to buy one or not (256GB one is around $64 around here which isn't all that bad).

I used an internal SSD with a connector, it doesn't work, the SSD is a Kingston KC100.
Strange. Before i setup my dual HDD setup, I used the same Kingston SSD (64GB variant) to test things out before buying bigger ones and it worked just fine, even when outside of HDD enclosure and using single SATA3 to USB cable (as enclosures can be problematic from time to time, especially on vWii side).

I'm using a generic USB extension Y-cable from Aliexpress and an enclosure from Orico with a SSD. Haven't had any problems with it so far.
