We must be patient, the handled console homebrew scene isn't just as much attractive to developers as it was before, now that there are smartphones everywhere...etc
Everyone keeps saying that. I dont understand why 3D isn't incentive enough to experiment with homebrew.

He is talking about the original rpi... Also I think if they dumbed down the software, maby removed things like bluetooth/weather/rssfeed stuff it would be very speedy!

The original RPi has a GPU capable of AVC video hardware decoding.
Even not taking into consideration the media friendly GPU, the CPU alone in the RPi is more powerful than the one in the 3DS. And also the original RPi has double the RAM of the New 3DS.
And... etc... underpowered like hell, that is the 3DS, even compared to an ARM based toaster.

Source: My own original RPi model B, that I use to make crazy experiments like once a year if I happen to have free time.

Wow! and that being said that the RPI is like $20!

h264 is more demanding than DivX/XviD but I'm not sure how much more, it might be able to handle 480p h264 just fine.

IIRC, the 3DS has an H264 decoder built-in, so it may well be easier than XviD. No idea if it's currently documented for homebrew though.
