Hacking Is there a new way to get into Gateway without using the web exploit?

I tried searching the forums but couldn't find an answer, I have a 3DSXL that I got working with GW 6 months ago, I stopped playing and am looking to start again. Do you still need to use the web exploit or is there a new method? I am thinking of downgrading but are there any downsides besides potentially unusable saves?

patch MSET so you can use ds profile exploit to boot

Downgraded mset doesn't work with gateway (excepted on n3ds)

There aren't really any other downsides, and you can use CFW to decrypt your 6.x cartridge saves beforehand so that you can import them after downgrading and not lose anything. Or you can dump your cartridges and decrypt the saves and add them to your Gateway, then you never have to touch the cartridges again.
