So, I've been wondering. Most of the major console emus for ps2 are pretty solid, 'cept SNES. Will Snes-Station or SNES9x for ps2 ever be worked on again?

Now, before you say "no way its 2 old n00b", I do remember a new version of Pgen, a sega genesis emu for ps2, being released a few months ago.

So...

Is the PS2 emu scene REALLY dead?

its dead, even the loaders arnt seeing much action these days like FreeMCBoot, ESR, HD Loader havnt been updated in long time
only thing that was updated recently was uLaunchElf last month or so with v4.42

last I heard, the last version of PGEN was 1.51 and that was ages ago

open ps2 loader seems to get updated recently but I dont use it

It may be dead, but also pretty much solid. They may not be 100% perfect, but pretty much close enough that there is no real need. Emulators, maybe, but they work well enough as for what I tried. Open PS2 Loader is still good project, as USB HDD is only imperfect project on PS2.

That is wo cents, userspace is still here totally, I too am now a newfound PS2 enthusiastic. I feel your worry, but I see no reason to badger people for fee stuff at this state, there really is no need at moment.

PGEN 1.51s (made to work on a ps3) was released in 2010.

Anyway, I'm fine with most emus. The only one that sucks is snes.

PGEN 1.51 was released in early 2007

the one that works on PS3 is just a mod and nothing more, it doesnt add/fix anything to the original emu besides ps3 compatibility and general menu bg's and music

Going down the SNES9X page, OMG there was a PUBLIC, RELEASED GBA (visual boy) port to PS2 in 2009! Only loads small roms, plays slow as heck, only one rom, but hell, it actually happened!

Gah, a few pages down there are modified versions of PGEN too from 2010. XD

Well, actually, from what I've read on the topic (which i've favorited) It will not be built off PS2 linux but a custom-built and updated SDK that the author made himself. He's been testing and coding on pcsx2 but doesnt get to a lot sometimes because his friend is a WOW addict and hogs the coding computer. It seems to be getting better though.

I cant tell if your serious or not

why would you need a ps1 emu on a ps2
just use PSX Launcher
the ps2 can already play ps1 games

Oh, It's real.

Supposedly some models can't use PSXLauncher, plus MANY people prefer to store their games on USB hard drive/PS2 HDD/network.
