Funny thing is, earlier today it was working just fine. Now when select "usb' on nintendont it begins loading.. and continues to do so. It also stopped working with everything else. I can't even plug it into my PC without it causing windows explorer to stop responding.

What kind of drive is it and how is it formatted? Have you done any kind of diagnostics on it at all?
You can use something like HDTune (v2.55 is free) to check the drive's SMART status and scan it for errors.

I've had this problem too. Try only keeping up to 19 games on there. It seemed to fix my problem. If this is really a unfix able problem, I wonder if categoriiX can rename a folder to "games" each to you want to play the second set of games
