Hi guys, I currently have a switch with a serial number of xkw500. Is it hackable? I'm just going to use it to play xci games.

You can check it from here.

EDIT: Checked yours, it's patched.
You need a modchip called SX Core to hack it.

yeah modchips are a pain to install for beginners. If you want your switch modded and its patched you have to get a modchip. These do require soldering directly to the cpu. If you have no knowledge or aren't confident then have someone do it for you.

Do you guys know if there are going to be any other ways to mod a switch instead of a modchip in the near future?

We don't have much info about that
But we have this:
https://gbatemp.net/threads/the-fir...ossible-tease-for-mariko-switch-units.577640/
"BigBlueBox also potentially teased something regarding the Nintendo Switch and its Mariko revision, by including "an early Christmas present" in both releases' .nfo's, in the form of a mariko_bek and mariko_kek key/hash. As to what this means or if it's significant for Switch hacking, it's hard to say right now, but as always, GBAtemp will keep you up to date on any further news about the subject."
Time will tell someday
