A year ago i paid a friend of mine to install a cobra ode on my ps3 but the soldering went wrong the ps3 seemed to work fine but it can't go into the xmb whenever i turn it on it says i have to install the 4.82 firmware from a usb but whenever i do that it gets stuck halfway through so i just left it like that, about a month ago i bought a new ps3 and tried to use my old hard drive and again it asked me to install the firmware however it said that it would erase everything so i want to know if it is possible to extract the contents of the old drive

Perfectly normal it's rejected, each console encrypts it differently

it says i have to install the 4.82 firmware from a usb but whenever i do that it gets stuck halfway through
You should fix this problem first (try with a different hdd with at least its first 10 MB erased, PS3 doesn't always like disks with some data already on), because to read a PS3 disk on PC you need to be run homebrew on that console to extract its eid_root_key

i can't really fix this since i can't get to the actual xmb in neither of the ps3 consoles isn´t there a way to brute force it or something?
