I was wondering, is it normal that even when in completely silent places, like my own room, when I'm about 20cm? away from the DS (lying on the bed with the DS in front of me), it doesn't detect my voice unless I blow into it with huge force? In order for it to actually hear my voice I have to lean forwards to it, and I think this isn't really normal, unless it Nintendo intended that people are supposed to almost touch the DS when they're playing voice games.

My DS Lites microphone works from about 40cm away from the sound source, maybe it's covered or damaged by dust or dirt?

Really! Oh wow! I just tried measuring via Mario Party DS sound detection, and it registers sound when I blow into it from 40cm+ maybe more. When I speak to it normally/half-shout...I get the first of the three sound bars full from 10 cm. >.> And the DS is brand new, I got it as a X-mas present.

From what distance does the DS actually recognise your voice? Was that those 40cm, or from 40cm it registers only when blowing into it like mine?

in my experience, the angle may also have an effect.

ive found my ds will not recognize any attempt by me to make it respond to noise at a high or low angle, but a dead on angle by my tv (about 1m away) has set it off

Hm. So if your DSes detect voice from far away and mine doesn't even when I move it into whatever angle I can think of, only when I'm about 5-10 cm away from the screed, it means there's something wrong with it, right?
