Hacking Is my Black 3DS Compatible?

Hello,

I just wanted to say that I'm sorry I'm posting a thread. I tried posting this in the "3DS NOOB PARADISE" thread and keep getting ignored, and every search fails. My question is very simple, "Is my Black 3ds Compatible?"

I purchased this new at a local store. They told me there are no returns for opened electronics, so I'm not opening it until I have any confirmation. The date is 2012 and serial CW420XXXXXX.

Here is what I know:
1. The wiki is wording VERY confusing.

Copyright 2012 is NOT a guarantee of firmware <= 4.5.0. Having a Nintendo Serial Number <= SW12xxxxxx x in North America, SEx1153xxxx x or SUx1035xxxx x in Europe, or SJF1265xxxx x in Japan for a 3DS XL (or <= CW421xxxxx x for a regular 3DS in North America) is. The lower the serial number the older the unit (which for our purposes is better).

It will explain about the regular 3DS in North America at the beginning and end. My 3DS fals in <= CW421XXXX, but I need confirmation that this is true.

2. A user received a compatible 3DS in around the same area, but midnight purple.

Midnight Purple 3DS: CW421xxxxx x [Orcastraw] (came with 4.4.0).

3. 3DS that say 2012 may be misleading.

So can someone give me a straightforward answer? I would definitely appreciate it 10 times over. Thanks for reading!

yeah should be fine, assuming the box is sealed and the serial number is below the known safe serial there is no reason it would be higher than 4.5
