Hacking is it safe to update the system menu

I just got an update letter from nintendo for system menu 4.1
is it safe to update my wii or will it brick?

(i use homebrew through bannerbomb)

NO it's absolutely fine, i have done it to my own and now modded some from 4.1 virgin so yes 100%.

You won't lose any hack much less a brick, go ahead if you want it.

NOTE: It doesn't add any features just a bug fix for Wii Sports Resort

Will it block DVDx installed from bannerbomb? I also heard it removes patches towards removing copy flags (but I'm sure it's nothing GeckoOS can't handle).

No, bannerbomb and DVDx still work.

Does the trucha bug get fixed or no? I know it uses IOS60, if you redownload it, wouldn't that fix the trucha bug?
