Gaming Is it really worth it ?

I'm worrying about this possibility because I got the DS in 2005 (phat), and one year later they released the DS Lite.

Unless he was lying, here. I got to agree with him though. It's roughly the same size as the lite yet it packs a lot more.

He said that because nobody would buy 3DS if they said "yes, there will be 3DS Lite".

That's what I tought. Many people aren't buying it now because they think the 3DS wil be redesigned, like the DS.
Some people even think that the 3DS is a new DS redesign, with 3D. The name sounds TOO similar and the design too.

A redesign won't come THAT soon. 2013 earliest.

If Nintendo really learnt its lesson then probably another year.

Only way it may "fix some issues" is make the 3DS bigger like a 3DS XL or even bigger?
Calling it the 3DS plus.

Which in turn, people would just complain about size.

Two years it may come a new one, I didn't think anytime soon.
Most games are coming out in November anyway and I want to play them...

And people will get pissed off and say 'I just bought a 3DS!'

Geez. Did the Wii even get a redesign (except for the one in Europe)?

Actually theres going to be a Wii Slim but I think it comes out like right before the Wiiu

I happen to be one of the lucky ones who has never gotten a headache from any sort of 3D.

There isn't much difference between stereoscopy and autostereoscopy. Case in point, if you get headaches at the movies, you will probably get headaches from the 3DS.

I have problems with neither.

Woah. I have problems with cinema 3D (dizzy and headaches) but not once with problems for the 3DS and 3DTVs. Weird.

Probably because you don't usually spend 2 and a half hours staring at your 3DS with no breaks.

They didn't lie entirely, the stock dropped before the conference, not after it. Basically the stock dropped because the stock dropped, not because Nintendo fucked up something in the eyes of investors.

Nintendo got me interested in the 3DS with the price drop. I was thinking about selling my DSi with a few games and an R4i Ultra that I have (maybe ill buy the acekard 2i) and pay some more bucks to buy a 3DS. But I've read on many websites that the battery really sucks, it has a design flaw (the lack of a 2nd analog stick) and Nintendo would release some kind of "3DS Lite" soon.

I think that all of the battery claims are exaggerated. I have one and it hasn't died on me ever. The second analog stick is just an add-on, probably Nintendo will probably release a 3DS Lite later but it will be a while until they even announce it.
I feel you on the price issues, man. I'm lucky because I live just next to the US, a trip there takes me less than 2 hours. I dunno exactly how expensive they are in Brazil, but you should look at online retailers (which usually have a better price).

i do feel a little burnt by nintendo on the 3DS so far. not so much about the price drop, but the lack of games. the only games i have are ZeldaOoT and SSF4, both ports i already own on other systems. the funnest game i've played on my 3DS is a DS game, KirbyMA. i'm excited for Mario 3DLand, but beyond that not much.

if you're not sure wait. early adopters always get screwed. i didn't learn with the first gen iPhone, but after this launch i'll always wait at least a year until i buy a product.

I remember crap like Ridge Racer DS and the rather meh Mario 64 port. No the first DS line up was not great either. I personally loved games like Elektroplankton and Pac pix a lot!

I don't dig 3D and don't care for brilliant graphics, so I might only buy a 3ds if my DS lite dies or if an (affordable) flashcart comes out. But even then I might change my mind.

The 3DS has much better third-party support as compared to the DS (obviously the shovelware is still there).

Hardly any console gets a smooth start actually.

I loved the original DS launch because:

I had never played M64 for my N64 and 3D graphics on a handheld blew me away.
Rayman 2 is awesome.

I was happy until the big hitters came out.


Now when Rayman 2 was out for the 3DS I just sighed and held off until the price drop.

fuck you smokin? SM64DS was and still is pretty awesome. Still one of the best DS games and it was a launch title! I didn't care for playing as other characters besides Mario and that his original abilities were spread across but the difference is minor in what you gain in the remake.
