So I am thinking it would be pretty cool to pay someone to hardmod SX OS switch just so I don't need the jig anymore. Is there any dangers to having a switch that can always boot without the jig?

You don't need a jig if you autorcm, although you still need a dongle.

In terms of fitting something internally that can deploy an rcm payload, the danger is mostly in opening the unit up and doing the soldering.

I'm lazy and don't want to break my switch, so a dongle is fine.

I have two hardmodded switches. The biggest danger is messing up the SD connector. Where the module connects to the mainboard is very easy to break. Then you have a true brick.
