Homebrew Is downgrading your 3ds safe???

I have a 3ds xl and it is on the latest version 10.6 and I want to downgrade my 3ds but I'm afraid I will brick it. So is downgrading your 3ds safe???

You can have a hardmod done professionally by @hundshamer for a very reasonable price (he is in the US), and if you ask maybe he can even perform the downgrade for you. Once you are hardmodded there is no risk since you can restore a NAND backup if anything goes wrong.
