Is CBHC worth installing?

Have you noticed that the only people who say not to are the ones who are too afraid to use it?

So much this. I was on the fence for a while about CBHC and thought I'd at least try it. Having all your homebrew apps and virtual console injects available as soon as the console starts up really makes it feel like a much more complete hacked console. Yeah there's a risk with it like any homebrew, but as long as you don't live with someone who would intentionally try to ruin your console you'll likely be fine. No kid that you hand your Wii U off to is going to think it's a fun idea to go to System Settings -> Data Management -> Scroll through all your titles -> Find 'DON'T TOUCH ME' -> Delete it.

I cant imagine not having CBHC at this point. Absolutely worth it, if you're afraid you'll brick, don't worry, as long as you're competent and can follow simple instructions, there really is no danger of it happening.

And if you are really worried, you can make a nand backup. As far as I know there isn't a way to flash it back except with a hard mod, but this is only in case of total fuckup.

the only way to brick once its installed is unlink nnid or format the console ...
Do you think in the future there will be a non-brick version of cbhc
Not worth it, you get the same result by enabling Quick boot and pressing down the B button with regular Haxchi.

What is quickboot?

there is no future on wiiu stuff, it ended, people now want to hack and find more stuff for switch.

i have been using cbhc from day one without any issues, basicaly 99% of the people that brickd installed cbhc over a none legit ds title.

seriously using latest cbhc and using cbhc built in CFW instead of mocha the only ways to brick are formatting your console and unlinking your nnid.

this are two things you dont do by accident...

The fact that you don't know what features your console has makes me think you're more than likely to do something dumb when you install CBHC.

Seriously. What is the quickboot function? I assume it is the menu pop up for haxchi but I could be wrong.

Also thinking about it. Accidentally formatting my Wii u and also removing my NNID seems unlikely but it is a risk still. Having a self-destruct button on my wii u seems like a risk, a silly risk but unlikely I would pull off.

I guess it depends on this. Is there a limit to how many times you can link your NNID to a console?

One account can be used on up to 1 3DS and 1 WiiU at any given time
One 3DS can use 1 account at any given time (that's 1 more than you need or want)
One WiiU can have up 12 accounts at any given time (just because that's how many local users it can hold)
You can remove and readd any single account as many times as you want, as long as it's on the same console (or you ask Nintendo for a manual transfer)

What is the quickboot function?
Your 10 most/last played titles are recorded by the console and stored to the gamepad a few seconds after the console is turned off (assuming you have yellow-led spotpass and quick menu both enabled), when you turn on the gamepad it shows that list and gives you the option of directly selecting one of those titles (then whatever title is currently set as launcher is informed of this choice, and is responsible of launching it - all known variants of CBHC ignore it)

I appreciate the help. Thank you.

you can also just put the wrong gas on your car and kill the engine... every device can be killed by accident people just need to be aware what they can do, i never ever unlinked an nnid or formatted any console ever, heck that's the point of unlinking the nnid anyway? unless you want to move it to another wiiu and if your moving to another wiiu is because yours has issues anyway, and formatting is not needed you can always delete titles manually on memory management.

It isn't really comparable to putting the wrong gas into a car.
It is more like there is a self-destruct button on your Wii U which you mess about with by accidentally pressing the wrong button.
The risk just seems unnecessary for a few seconds but the risk is unlikely.
The only issue is an "What if" scenario where you accidentally press something or someone really dislikes you.
If it is easy to unbrick a wii u then I don't see the issue.
I rather have a product that is unbrickable through normal means then one that can but then I would have to be a chicken to think like that as well. :L

how do you accidentally press format? you need to enter system settings only possible on gamepad, then you have to scroll left, hit memory manager, then click format iand it will still ask you 2 times if you are sure...

unlinking nnid is evenm more complicated lol.

That is true. I am beat. Time to install lol.

Even the results say yes.

Unless they ban my account...

cbhc is not really mandatory, i've done many builds with no cbhc, i've done the quickboot + launch mocha from hbl directly (replace elf so no need to rerun haxchi)
this worked really well,
cbhc is great, it just posed an unnecessary risk, I know people would say, you'd be stupid to format without uninstalling first, but shit can happen. it's not like menuhax for the 3ds where you can remove the sdcard and you're back to safezone.
it's not even like the 3ds downgrade process from before where the whole 30 minutes of downgrading every title and hoping it won't fail is nervewracking, not even close to the ctrtransfer- with cbhc, the itch is always there, waiting for you to make a mistake.
sorry for quite the OP, cbhc is great tbh.

correct me if i'm wrong, there's a bootromhax for the wiiu, it's documented but not implemented, just not many devs out there doing wiiu stuff now since good things are on the switch.

kindla like how the dsi got left out after the 3ds got released.
anyway, sorry for the op, got carried away with the topic lol.

I’ve had it for over a year now without any issues. As long as you have a nand backup there is no reason to not install it.

As others have said “just follow the basic rules”.

You can use a nand backup if it fails?
How do you go about doing that incase you brick it from doing cbhc?
