Hacking Is an lg drive still required to burn games?

i am about to get a wii and I want to get all my info exactly right before I get started. so does any body have any personal preferances or tips? and do you still need one of those lg drives to burn backups?

I thought you only needed an LG drive to read original Wii discs. As far as I know, any good drive that can burn DVDs can make Wii backups. As for the brand of DVDs to use, I've heard Verbatim is the best.

any decent dvd burner can burn wii iso's
those special lg drives were only necessary for ripping original discs into an iso.

Well now that we have cIOS we can dump games via wifi. The LG drives were only needed for dumping. Since the wifi dumper dumps the game directly to ISO, you can burn it with any DVD-RW drive. So in short, no you don't need an LG drive.
